| DESCRIPTION OF SINGs: | |
|---|---|
| SING 1 | Filling up the PhilSPEN Nutrition Assessment Form |
| SING 2 | Calorie Counting of Enteral Nutrition Familiarize yourself with the components to concentrate on when doing calorie counting of patients on enteral nutrition. Understand its importance and learn how to make it a practice in your institution. >> back |
| SING 3 | Calorie Counting of Parenteral Nutrition Know the different types of parenteral nutrition formulas and how to dissect them as regards their nutrient breakdown. Translate nurse’s documentation of patients’ intake of IV fluids with nutrients into calculable calories and proteins. This practice is useful in indentifying patients who are not fed adequately and appropriately and detect reasons for this problem. >> back |
| SING 4 | Handling of formulas at the nurse’s station Before actual delivery of nutrition to patients, know what are the appropriate steps to take to prepare enteral and parenteral formulas. This session will also include general guidelines to follow when feeding patients, both enterally and parenterally. >> back |
| SING 5 | Managing Hyperglycemia in the ICU Ideal for doctors and nurses, this session will try to clarify the more appropriate way to control hyperglycemia in critical care patients. Listen to the experts and learn about how they control blood glucose in the hospital. >> back |
| SING 6 | Managing Diarrhea Diarrhea is the most common gastrointestinal complication. Our invited experts will explain the standard protocol in the management of this condition, particularly in the hospital setting. Learn also about the possible reasons for diarrhea. >> back |
| SING 7 | Parenteral Nutrition Access Ideal for nurses and pharmacists, learn the different kinds of access sites and devices used in parenteral nutrition. This will enable one to appreciate the complexity of delivering parenteral nutrition and therefore the need for closer monitoring and access care. Hear it from the experts. >> back |
| SING 8 | Home Enteral Nutrition Nutrition support, particularly tube feeding, continues beyond discharge. Know how to manage patients for home care. Hear from the experts about what anthropometric and/or biochemical parameters to measure in monitoring patients on long-term enteral nutrition. >> back |
